In case anybody was in doubt, I still SUCK at fishing the DR. I was out there from about 9-3 today. I tried the dirty water on the Canadian side. I tried to fish the color line. I went from the Ambassador Bridge alllllll the way past River Rouge and eventually the Steel Mill. I tried shallow. I tried deep. I followed and imitated the packs. I watched boat after boat dip that net. I watched the boat next to me hook up while the boat in front of me was doubled up. I tried every color combo in the boat. I even tried to imitate the jigging rhythm of guys having success. Dude at the launch told me as I was pulling in that they had boated over 30 walleye in 2 hours pulling harnesses (I only had my jigging stuff with me). What a day.

One more update on this thread. I got out late yesterday, on the water and fishing by about 2. It was my first time launching from Bellanger - nice launch but the water level made the docks are little too tall for the Rocket. Since I was solo and didn't have to worry about anybody else's comfort level, I ran upriver a ways to the post office and drifted down from there.

I had my best luck in front of the industrial site just north of the Ambassador Bridge , drifting about to Riverside Park and then a similar drift starting ahead of the Gordie Howe and drifting to River Rouge. I was using a purple head with purple panther Wyandotte Worm and a chunk of crawler and yes, AJ, I had a stinger on the whole time and it definitely caught 2 of them.

I brought 9 walleye to the surface, 1 was a short and I knocked 2 off because my net man was awful. I fought a couple more that came off on the way up and I had at least 20 strikes that I wasn't able to stick. Overall, it was a nice day on the D and I have to thank you guys again for the advice that lead to the success. I felt like I really found a solid jigging rhythm that I was able to build confidence with.

Don't you show you fangs to me, Walter. Lower your glass. Respect.

Knew you could do it 🤣😂!! Good job man! Now they'll come easy for ya :)
Only fish Detroit twice a year for the tournament but if it's like my river worms and bouncers be better then jigging sooner then later..... You'll really get em then!
I'm not ready to switch yet. But both will be aboard the vessel!

Nice job mike. Glad that you were able to connect and now that confidence level will be there. Some days will be better than others.
