Shot this fellow on Monday evening. Obviously I rung him up as a mallard but check out his belly and speculum. Any opinions about what he may have been crossed with? I was thinking farm duck until I checked out his speculum.

The bill is more narrow than a normal mallard but colored similarly.

Speculum had just a hint of green iridesence.

Maybe a Gadwall/Mallard mix?

I shot one a couple of years ago that looks just like yours, Ken.
Just a farm duck, tasted like a Mallard.

I did shoot a Mallard/Pintail hybrid opening weekend. Picture a greenhead with a white chin and a gray bill. Ate him too, not worth mounting.

I've seen some colored just like that where I live we have a decent sized flock of mallards that usually hang out in a creek that flows through the neighborhood. Not sure if the speculum is the same. I figured it was a domestic mix since there's an apple orchard not too far away that has domestic ducks and geese on the property and not many farms nearby.
