I was reading the minutes from a recent NRC meeting where some person commented to the commission that people should be allowed to hunt varmints from an elevated platform. Personally, I do not varmint hunt but have considered it because I often see coyotes on my property while deer hunting and, I'm in an elevated platform.

It's also my understanding that during daylight hours, one can use a high caliber rifle to hunt varmints in the southern half of the lower peninsula. Based on that fact alone, it sure does seem to make sense to allow hunting for varmints from an elevated platform, simply as a safety concern (errant buttets.)

Thoughts?

but who knows how long or if common sense will pass through to the Govs office.
I think most varmint hunters are MUCH more concerned with safety and dont take iffy shots for safety reasons than the average deer hunter. They are usually a specialist and know more of guns, ballistics, fieldcraft as the varmints being hunted are among the wariest of foes.
