How Far would you shoot?/ Big Buck Just out of Range

We are supposed to get close in archery for a reason!
This link http://bowsite.com/BOWSITE/features/articles/deer/stringjumping/ provides substantial evidence that a deer can drop 8 inches in less than 1/8 of a second! To put that in perspective, your projectile traveling at 300 fps will get to your 30 yard target in 0.3 seconds. That is 2.4 times the amount of time needed to drop a full 8 inches.
So, the question isn't really "can I hit where I am aiming at long distances" - it really translates into "will the deer still be in the same position when my arrow arrives".
Anyone taking long shots with archery equipment and killing deer is probably more in the lucky category than they are good! Period...
So next time you squeeze off that shot, ask yourself "Do I feel lucky"?

Joe, I agree with what you posted here, however, after the "Do I feel lucky?" You're supposed to add...."Well do you Punk?"
