I know this is in the Whitetail forums but I wanted to start a thread here since it seems not everyone in here frequents the bear forum.
My question is, how does the baiting ban effect the non dog running bear hunters in the LP? What about the guys that already drew a permit and planned on archery hunting for bears? I think without bait its going to be an extremely difficult challenge trying to locate a free roaming bear without any means of using bait to "attract" them into a 30yd range. I don't bear hunt but would interested in knowing other means of hunting them without the use of dogs now that baiting is ban?

What say you?

I believe they can continue to bait but only with meat, fish, and baked goods. NO grains. I'll try and find the link for you.

I pulled this from another post:
Current bear baiting regulations prohibit the use of any materials that
lure, entice, or attract deer or elk where it is unlawful to bait or
feed deer or elk. As a result of the deer and elk baiting and feeding
ban, no bear baiting with food materials other than meats, meat
products, fish, fish products, or bakery products
will be allowed in the
Lower Peninsula at any time.
