Does anybody have a propane heater like this?

I have a 12 foot hose like you would use to hook a mr buddy to a 20lb tank.
That was a bad idea. After a few trips to the hardware store to get the right fittings I came up empty. If anyone has one how did you hook it up.
Is the regulator a necessity?

Although I've never hooked up a Mr Buddy to an LP tank, I would have to assume the regulator is indeed a required piece of equipment. Pressures are critical on all gas fired equipment.

I do have a regulator but there is a slight smell of propane (bad) and the flame is not totally blue which I assume means I have a leak somewhere.

Soapy water will find your leak if you have one. And the regulator may also need to be adjusted for whatever pressure the heater calls for.;)

sounds like low pressure. Dish soap easy way to check for leaks. Good Luck
