HL, We were on Higgins last weekend for the winterfest, it was slow there too. Fished Houghton Lake Sunday afternoon, no luck there either. "Everyone" we talked to stated it was slow, nothing to write home about. I dont know what to tell you, could call or PM Barnacle Bill later in the week for a report? I'm coming back up this weekend, Planned on hanging around Houghton Lake, I can use my snowmobile there, I wont have a trailer to get to Higgins. I havent heard/read of to much interest in the "outing" that was planned for this coming weekend. Maybe if there are a few of us we could meet somewhere to fish or do dinner/drinks?

Best advice.....wait until night and go for smelt!!! Cause, perchin was VERY slow, actually(will post thread soon) the dink perch were biting pretty good on the dropoff. If you have a machine, well, a snow mobile, then go to the sunken island, may be your only luck for a nice meal of jumbo perch. BUt, the smeltin is ON right now!!!
