Man, that's a sight for sore eyes! :) I don't fish the river much anymore other than a few times in the spring. I used to be a real river rat back in the 70's and 80's. Nothing better than the solitude of hand lining on the river on a warm summer night with the lights of the city reflecting off the water and soft splash of waves on the hull sides. Ah, those were the days! :)

Man Gone Fishing, that just about brought a tear to my eye :D ;)

I'm ready for some Deeeeetroit River style fishin.

Now if your really thinking about starting next week, make sure you fish upstream for the launch just in case some of that LSC ice starts making its way down river:eek:

Thanx Hotwired I needed that:D

I pruchased a new 15 hp 4 stroke Today. It will be in, a week from monday So that means, I'll be handlining a week from tuesday ;) Can't wait to try it.

The ice will be of concern. but if it stays locked up and the wind is light It should be good. I'll be fishing up river of my put in spot no matter what.

Now guys where to put in . I'm sure there is still ice at St Jeans. and the gate is probably locked. I was thinking of that launch down by the bridge on the Can. side. It should be ice free? any Ideas. If not the river, i'll be right next to the guys Ice fishing the edge of open water Clinton river area. There was a ton of guys out there today at the edge of lots of open water (between the Clinton and Metro point) looked like it was open all the way to Strawberry Island?

Faultibalti. This is a great link that explains almost everything you need look up "articles" then scan down to "so you want to handline Eh!" If you need more info let me know. The red cap should work just fine. I use more rap's and spoons then pencil plugs?

Also try looking up Handling in the search box at the bottom of the forum . There is a ton of great info hidden away.

The river looks good as no ice is flowing by. There is still ice in our dock area and the marina slips.
this was posted on feb 24. i dont know when the pic was taken. i am sure that all the snow is gone. but between the launch and river is a good question!:D
