My question is will this virus be spread by the the Asian carps invaders? With their very high numbers in the Mississippi system it could be a virus heaven.

Herpes virus oubreak that's killing carp spreads

First detected in Israel in 1997, the virus has spread to carp in other countries, including Britain, Germany, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and the United States. It is thought to have killed carp in the Great Lakes of the United States in 2000.

if this only effects carp, why not let the asian carp in the miss. system catch it and then they would die off? Would other fish be effected?
