I have a Flambeau 5580MA duck decoy, the paint is pretty bad and I can't figure out what it is supposed to be. I want to say a Greenwing, but it doesn't look like any of my other Greenwing Teal dekes and it is about the size of a mallard.....If I can't figure it out, I will just do some diver repaints on them......Thanks, Scott

a flambeau? crudy paint job? about the size of a mallard?

sounds like a flambeau mallard deke!

(Wish I was only half kidding really. if you know the style number (5580MA) i'd lay odds that the MA is their coding for MAllard.)

repaint them into merg dekes like my canadian buddy!!

repaint them into merg dekes like my canadian buddy!! Original post by Branta
I've found a few floating around saginaw bay, over the years. Funny thing is they all have the same initials on them? I believe the reason your buddy in Canada paints them up for mergies is, they look more like a lawn dart than a mallard. I call em chicken billed decoys. Fuggly decoy that's for sure.

But I think if you painted them up like bills they would probably fool a diver easy enough!
