Whats your prefered blade size for the river and lake?

For many years I ran 2s & 3s. Last few years it's been 4s. I have about 24 custom 5s that I never made up but am thinking about making.

For the lake 4's and 5's. I like some smaller copper and gold when the flies hatch because they spin at a slower speed, and for those rigs I use solid clevis not the quick connects because the spin easier at slower speeds. I use the quick connect clevis more regularly though.

I used mostly 5 s on the lake although some 6s too when the bait stealers are too present.

If you just after numbers and not size 3s and 4’s. You’d be surprised how many fish you will catch on a #3 hammered gold. Easier to keep a smaller blade spinning at slow speeds

I was always a 6 Colorado, go big or go home kinda guy. But I ran some serrated willow blades today and limited out. First time trying them but they ran well at 1.7 sog. Hope it wasn’t just a fluke.

I like size 4 in the river, but 3's do pretty good too....tried 5's & they just seemed to wobbly going slow with current, maybe better into current ?....
