Looking for suggestions on handheld GPS units that work well for marking water routes to your spots. First year hunting out of a boat and I used the Google Maps app on my phone to get around in the dark, but not without a lot of headaches.

Thanks...

I use garmin's GPSmap76Cx and will do what you are asking-
I still have not used it to its full capabilitis -
Their is a program called MapSource that you can exchage data from your computer to GPS.

Make sure that you save your Track and check the show on map box.
otherwise you will be scratching your head as to why you cannot see the track you saved !

Make sure to shop around as the price is all over the place.

I use the Motion X GPS app on my iPhone. Works good. I figure it's one less piece of electronics I have to lose to Mother Nature.

The navionics app for smart phones is awesome and cheap. Great for waterfowling and especially fishing. For non lakes and backwoods I been happy with the cheaper garmin etrex. Fits in my pocket and works great.
