My wife and I love our yard and our birds that visit it. Someday I'd love it if we had woodpeckers eat out of our hands here too. Kent Lake (Kensington Park) in Michigan has miles and miles of trails where the birds come down out of the trees and eat from your hands. The woodpeckers especially love the peanuts! I put together a video showing various woodpeckers eating from our hands.

Nice footage. A few years back a group of black cap chickadees landed on us eating the black oil seeds. Had one take it from our lips, wife and I. Since then the subsequent generations have shown to be not as social.

That is pretty cool. They do learn from seeing each other. I wish I could get a group of them to do that at our house. We have 4 that hang around.
