Just got back from Kansas and We had another great hunt!

I have been hunting there for the last 10 years and it is always different but always fun.

Hunted private land ( knocked on doors along with people I knew from the past hunts) and was able to take my 12 year old son along!

We shot Pheasants Quail and even managed 1 Rio Grande Turkey!

We also saw giant whitetails, and a few mule deer and some snow geese!

But you have to pick your game out there and we were upland bird hunting.

Here are some pics

Last day and best quail day ( 3 coveys of over 20+ birds) Those 8 quail should have been much more except for the bad shooting !

Matthews First Quail ( after two other nameless people misssed!)

True mixed bag! (we should have had 2 more turkeys but we messed up)

Over all very good trip!

Very nice. . . .were you upland hunting while you shot the turkey or did you hunt them like turkey? I think that is the only kind of bird I didn't have my dog retrieve for me this year.;) I'd like to get out and get a Rio sometime in my life.

We spent several afternoons chasing turkeys and resting the dogs.

The turkeys were very easy to find at first but after we chased them for a bit they vanished.

Next time we may take a whole day to hunt turkeys and then its back to the pheasants and quail.

Very nice! Great that your son got to go. Bob's are moving up the list as a target species of mine.

Great pictures. Man what a hunt? The best part is the weather. You don't seem to be all bundled up. I like that.
