Allow me to point out a great article about fishing for "drop back" steelhead in the April issue of Woods N Water News. It was written by my good friend Mr. Joe Boomgaard, otherwise known here as the vile, Phlyphisher! This is his first article in such a publication, so congrats Joe!

Check it out...

Of course, this article should in no way be confused with Joe's famous techniques for "drop back salmon". Using a long stick to dig chinook carcasses out of a log jam is description enough---it doesn't warrant a full article! ;) :)

Thanks Steve.

As far as the elusive dropback salmon is concerned, if I remember correctly, you were the one who taught me that maneuver.

"This is a good way to keep your chum supply stocked. Now find me a long stick and remember to hold your nose..."

Hmm...

Disgusting? Hey...I resemble that remark! Oh well, if the shoe fits...although Joe's appearence tends to drag me down with him. I mean, he is short and he drools a lot...

Speaking of dead salmon ,Joe, I'm suprised the infamous "Bear Creek Fungus Bunny" photo never made it's way on here! But then again, perhaps the description says enough...that was a true drop back salmon!

Ah yes, the elusive dropback salmon. I believe he absolutley nailed a pink spawn bag, am I right Steve?

You had a helluva time tailing the fish since the flesh kept sliding off.

But alas, this one lived to spawn again...

1000, after the flood and the decent number of Fall and Winter fish, guys are doing OK on drop backs right now.
