I have an 70 something johnson 4.4 sea horse, does anyone know what fuel /oil ratio I should use in it? I cant find it anywhere on it, also anyone know where to get parts for it, like filters and carb kits that are reasonably priced? thanks
Even if its an older engine a 40:1 ratio is more than sufficient with todays quality of lubricants. Some sythetics can even go higher but for that motor a good quality outboard oil is all you'll need. Do a search of the threads, the subject of mixture ratio's has been discussed in depth a few times before.
If you want to spend a little extra money, try Golden Spectro. The ratios are pretty much consistent at 50 to1, with a gaurantee against damage. I've been using it for years, with only one blown motor with 40 years on it. (Mercury Kiekhoffer) RIP my old friend
