I want to put in a food plot on the land I hunt. I hunt my dads farm. The habitat seems to be right for deer but it could be a ton better I think. Right now it seems like the big bucks are just passing through the property. Much of the farm is corn, soybeans and alfalfa, so there is plenty of food around. What do you guys think would be good crops to plant in a plot to attract the deer to the food plot rather than the farm fields??

You will have more help and interest if you re-post your question in the whitetail habitat forum. Try your question there, and good luck (btw) you will want to give more info like land/cover surrounding your fields, where located etc.
Also, Welcome

Brassicas planted around August 1. Grains around Sept. 1. Once the crops come off
it will be the major food source just in time for prime hunting season. You will be hard pressed to compete with a lush green alfalfa and soybean field....until they yellow and brown up.
