I was wondering if anyone would want to share some good spots for fishing..Looking from marco to Big pine key. I'll have a yak so I am trying to stay in the backwater/nearshore. No desire to get into the everglades...I hate snakes!! I spend most of my time at bahia honda or marco when I am there, but would like to try something new this year.

salmonslammer,

Fiesta Key KOA (near Long Key) is great. They have camping for everything from tents to diesel pushers. Good fishing in the marina (small fish). You can rent a small powerboat (16-18 feet) and fish the near reefs for bigger fish, or if you have a kayak that would work also. Good sized snappers, mackeral and grunts are what most people seem to catch. Long Key is about halfway to Key West.

We are also going to try the Sugarloaf Key KOA, this one is a near Marathon and has a sand beach.

There are also one or two Florida state parks in the Keys that offer camping.
