I did use a round tube for years before these.

I leave the tube inflated year-round. No air leakage. Tube fluctuations due to air and water temp, nothing substantial.

I really like tube mobility on and off the water. But then, I have been using them for 20+ years

 

Check out DryFlyFloatBoats. There's nothing lacking in the quality area. Drag em over gravel, you name it, they'll hold up. The bigger models also have a double air bladder design for extra piece of mind.

 

I'm with Steve, I have had a "Dry Fly"boat for many years. You can't beat them as far as i am concerned.
I put an 8 foot line off the back using a "D" ring with a chain on it. That keeps me floating with the current with no problem. They are made up around Irons Michigan.
IMHO: You can't beat them, they are the best on the market!!!!.
