I recently bought a big homemade fish scaler, the tumble drum type. It has a big drum attached to a small motor mounted on wheels with a big drain. Anyways, I've used my friends before and they work awesome! I could put a limit of gills in, add water, turn it on and after 20 minutes they would be completely scaled.

Well, for some reason the one I just bought takes for ever to scale the fish. Is there something I can do to make it work better? I'm thinking about drilling out some of the holes to make the edge slightly sharper. Maybe I'm using too much water inside, I'm not sure. I think the last batch of fish took over an hour and they weren't as clean as they should have been.

Any suggestions? Maybe the motor is too slow?
