I'm looking into filming hunting/fishing trips. I'm wondering what you guys use, been looking at the GoPro's but I've heard mixed reviews. Thanks in advance guys

If you want a decent vid of you shooting, I use the I Kam extreme camera glasses and it they are pretty cool. I have seen nice go pro vids also, may have a little wider viewing range but the distance of view is close to the same. The birds take a while to show up in the distance but they show up when they're in your face and its pretty cool looking down your own barrel watching them fold (or fly away)..... One thing that I liked about my buds GP was that when you start the filming it beeps, the IKs only have a small blinking light in the corner of your eye. I have missed some premium shooting in the heat of the moment thinking I had 'em on when I didn't.

I have a gopro hero 3 and love it. The only down fall is no zoom ability. The picture quality is amazing for the size of the camera. With the new ones having WiFi you can place the camera anywhere ie behind you or even in your decoys and get awesome views.

If you want good zoomed in quality video nothing is going to beat an hand held camera of digital or hd quality. Nothing including the go pros. They take nice video but just do not compare with a top end cannon or Sony. By using these camera it gives you zoom quality to infinity allows you to pan out etc. we used Sony and cannons to film or DVD. The remote cameras and go pros are great for added footage of birds coming in from a different location or angle. Also for setting them right in the kill hole to get footage of your hunters coming up out of the blind etc. but not for the entire video. You won't be happy with the results.

I've filmed hunting for quite a few years now and like others have said nothing beats a dedicated cameraman with a handheld. The gopro/action type cameras are great for secondary footage but lack a lot as primary cameras.

Love my go pro but doesn't compare to my sony handheld! This is the go pro of my daughters first duck. You can't see the duck on YouTube but on my play station you can see it clear. Idk if the quality changed.

Of course nothing beats a hand held camera with a zoom and what not. But short of hiring a guy to film you every time I love the go pro. Yeah ducks are tiny if out past 20 yard and hard to see. Goose hunting I love it cause they are bigger of course. But still get some cool footage on it. Its neat to share it with your buddies

They key to the GoPro is to change the default setting of 'Wide' angle to either 'medium' or 'narrow'. The wide angle is great for stuff in your face, but the others will allow you to pick up birds from further away. But having said that, almost any decent handheld hd camera will do much better.

I use a Go Pro on my sled and all my bird hunting. I want add to what others have stated about using the G.P. If you are set back in woods on a pond or in a blind buttoned up the camera has an issue with dealing with rapid light change from dark to light. It takes a second or two for it to adjust to light and alot of times even if the ducks are 15 yards out the the camera will miss the shot because it is addjusting to the light. This is if you are wearing it not if it is set up and fixed pointing over the spread.

They're not a waste at all..As long as you stage them in the proper places. But a hand held for quality would be the best along with 2-3 Go Pros
Smoke quote = The remote cameras and go pros are great for added footage of birds coming in from a different location or angle. Also for setting them right in the kill hole to get footage of your hunters coming up out of the blind etc.

Hmm we agree again starting to think I need to change my opinion! :D
