Improved clinch is my most-used knot. Why? Because it is simple and strong.

I also like the Palomar, mainly for tying dropper hooks. I learned this one while surf fishing in Australia, they use multi-dropper rigs so the Palomar was mandatory. It's also a simple and strong knot.

Improved clinch for the most part, I'll tie a double on really fine tippets and leaders.

For small diameter mono to terminal tackle: Palomar (if in a hurry I will use the Uni)

For large diameter mono to terminal tackle: Improved Clinch

For braided line to mono: Albright Special (with lock)

For lead core line to mono or braided: Willis Knot

For braided to terminal tackle: Uni-Knot

For wire to terminal tackle (swivel): Overhand Loop Knot

Don,

Ever had a problem with slippage when tying braided line into leadcore sheath via the Willis knot? I've never tried it, but have heard rumors that it can slip, which I find hard to believe.

Up until last year, I used the improved clinch almost exclusively for mono and braid terminal connections. Last year I started tying the uni knot, and after getting used to it, found it a bit easier/faster to tie. Ive never had a problem with either, but I generally find myself tying the uni knot now. Its suppose to be less prone to slipping on the super lines, not that I ever had the improved clinch slip on super line.

For line to line connections, double uni hasnt failed me yet.

Willis knot for leader to leadcore, uni-uni for backing to leadcore.
