E wind on the E side?

We’re spending Memorial Day weekend in Alpena. I’ve only fished that water one other time.

The weather looks really good so far. So far…. Watching it closely. So far, the wind speed from fri-mon isn’t predicted to get above single digits. Day or night. Weather looks pretty stable.

Even with a predominant e wind, that should be very fishable in the mornings for us small boat guys.

So outside of issues with an E wind being associated with rough seas and changing weather, any other feelings of optimism or dread for the fishing forecast this weekend in the NELP? The E wind increase the likelihood of warmer water near shore this weekend? Any predictable effect on the thermocline?

Not that it matters…. We’re all in. Can’t wait. The boys and I are gonna fill the smoker with LT and add hopefully add a splash of silver! I got a good feeling about this trip. Looking forward to fishing the sunrise side!

Optimistic here Mike. Weather looking nice for the weekend. I bet you fill the boat like you normally do! Good luck and have fun. Look forward to picks from the adventure. I picked up some downriggers at a garage sale from a members nephew on here (thanks dave). Also a buddys dad is getting out of the salmon game so I am side jobbing for him at his new place for the rest of the gear we need! Will be some noobs on the west side trolling for salmon this fall if all goes as planned!

Fantastic! Keep me posted. Maybe we can get out for a shakedown trip.

Still can’t believe we actually have a stretch of nice fishable weather over a long holiday weekend, for a trip planned a year in advance…. That almost NEVER happens for me! Fish on!

Water is still pretty cold in the southern part of huron so I would imagine it's pretty cold up there still. With the calm winds I would suspect some nice scum lines to form.

Very good point. Thanks for the reminder! I remember seeing a pic of a fish w a belly full of ladybugs last week. Will definitely keep an eye out for that and keep a bait or two up high.

I will be fishing Alpena in the mornings starting Saturday. Hopefully we can come up with some good reports. I’m willing to share info. Will be in a blue skeeter.

Even at 2.5 to 2.7, the lakers couldn’t get enough. Got our 12 and headed in.

Forgot about this pic…. First fish of the morning. Two year olds….

Most all of our fish came early. Ball of fire came up and turned off the bite. No wind. Could see bottom in 50 FOW.
