One night last year,in early march our group(3) took home close to 400. I snipped 12 dozen. 300am. They were still going strong when we called it.I talked to 2 guys that stayed `til 500am, they had 500.Now thats a full bucket. Lots of doubles, way fun on a noodle rod/hali & tear-drop. A good light seems to up the odds for extreme #`s if thats what your after consistantly.

Good luck! Let me know how you do for both smelt and lakers! We did some laker fishing on a deep lake in Canada last year. We caught a few, but we also caught quite a few Ling Cod... Don't know if Higgins has Ling, but if it does, you'll love pulling one of them up too! They like to wrap around your arm like an Anaconda! Good eatin' though!
