Not far off. When I first started I had two milk crates in the back seat that were filled with 4” 3-ring binders with all the DNR associated Laws, Orders, and Rules. That was before the first DEQ split so we carried all the environmental stuff around too. It was a lot easier to keep track of once the in car computer was installed.
Was your first gun a black powder pistol? 😎😎😎😎

Remind you of anything ? Baiting ban maybe. More bait sold today than before the ban. DNR not enforcing that either. Again, why is it on the books as banned or illegal if it's not enforced. I just don't get it. I'm still looking for game cams being illegal in the DNR game guide. Everyone( DNR official) I call or talk to in person says they are legal. Wonder why that is ?

How many cameras owned by the State of Michigan are on State Of Michigan or other "public" property and have not been moved in 24 hours? Including of course those not in use.
Yet it is illegal for hunters? Nice arrangement ; that.

Only those used by biologists for wildlife research and by conservation officers for Intel on violations.

I don't want to know how many cameras I passed in the past couple days. Not that I've gone far...
And how many cameras passed me?

Now that I know this was the DNR and we’ve established that trail cameras are illegal if left more than 24 hours I’ve got everything I need. Thanks for the fun lol

Need for what? DNR already said they don't care about cams left out on state land and there is no law about leaving them out on Federal land.
Your wasting your time on this subject. The DNR are allowing this activity. That makes it acceptable to do. One retired CO on here says it's illegal but those laws have been on the books way before game cams came out(his words). Obviously there has been a bulletin or update to those rules and they are currently allowed. The 2 I spoke too personally and the email and phone conversation with a LT in the LE division stated they are legal. I'm satisfied with that.

After all that has been posted, legal document, a retired CO who everybody relies on for advice, your one of a kind. Yes DNR is not enforcing it. I agree. .Yes you probably are going to to get away with it. But get your fictional LT to sign his name on a statement saying leaving game cams over 24 hrs is legal. That LT would be the laughing stock of the judicial system.

I'll take that as a compliment

Never saw a bulletin, and the link I shared to the State Land Use Rule is current. They are simply “allowed” by accepted practice at this point. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Meaning, and correct me if I am wrong, that without any further input or public hearings the DNR Director or even the Law Chief in Lansing could decide tomorrow to have the boys and girls in green begin writing paper for game cameras left on SoM lands. FM
