Hey Everyone,
I was asked to join a trip to Devils at the end of February. We are not hiring a guide this trip. A few of the guys have people that live on the lake and have some info on the fish. We are leaving the 21st and coming home the 25th. I am curious on how much you think this trip will cost per guy, splitting gas for our sleds and the truck there and back. Lodging for the nights and food. My buddy says he things $300 per guy. Is this crazy off, or in the wheelhouse. I know these out of state trips can add up but am not looking to spends $500+ and be blindsided.

2. What's the truck get for gas mileage if hauling a trailer?
3. Are you going thru the UP or around Chicago?
4. What do you estimate gas to be priced?

Based on MapQuest ..it's over 1000 miles from Lansing .
If 10 miles/gallon that's easy 100
X $3.00/gallon (estimated) = $300
Then double it = $600 in gas
Split 4 ways is $150

Plus gas for sled will vary but plan at least 1 fill-up for 3 days of fishing
$30

And what's hotel rate?
$150 a night?
If 4 guys and 4 nights
Your paying 1 night

Food costs
Bait

So I'd say anywhere from $400-$600 without having much to go off of

That is what I am thinking as well. We have 4 guys going and it’s $540 for 4 nights at the hotel. I’m thinking more like $500 a guy with minimal beer and whiskey consumption lol. Thanks for the response !

As someone who used to travel to north Dakota every 2 weeks either way 94 or 75 to hwy 2. Both take about the same time but the north route is a lot nicer of a drive although gas can become hard to find at night so make sure to fill up before 9pm and keep a 5 gal can just in case. Good luck over there, every trip I ever had an issue with happened within 20 miles east or west of that town. Nothing major just a couple flats and a spin out. It's been probably 5 years years since my last trek that way, if you had some extra time the train isn't a bad option but it's about 24 hour ride to williston n.d. from Detroit. So probably 18 to devils lake. Used to be able to get a cabin for like 120$ good luck.
