I went out on Devils Lake yesterday(Sat.) after work and it looks as though the fishing is getting heated up just in time for their " Tip Up Town" ice festival for next weekend. Got into the bluegills around 3-4 and then they just moved on. I went a little shallower towards my perch/walleye spot for the sundown period and got two nice perch 9" & 10" , must have missed at least six or seven (real light bite), and then started jigging with a rapala as it got toward dusk and got into a good walleye bite. Ended up with 4 walleyes 16-18", and saw a bunch of other fish on the graph. They were coming right up to the bait but wouldn't always bite.(Wish I would have had my camera with me). Anyways, went in right after dark.
Has anyone else been doing good out here in the Hills ?? Is anyone else going to fish the tournament out on Devils next weekend ?? I know my buddy and me are going to do the poker run that weekend, and I know I'll be going after some more eyes out there
A small note to anyone who loves Devils Lake as I do, I talked to the DNR in Livonia who do all the planting, and Jeff Emailed me that Devils is going to be the first lake stocked this year with walleye since they weren't able to do it last year.(They had trouble even thou Devils was supposed to get stocked, every other year they stock tons of small walleye), this is turning into one of their better South Eastern Mich. fishing projects. He said they're going to discontinue stocking redears thou, cause they're not showing up in their testing of the lake. Our last plant of 133,000 walleyes in 2001 looks as though it worked pretty good.
Have fun out there, be safe, and maybe I'll see some of yopu out there at the ice festival next weekend.
