Well guys we made our first run down to the upper Detroit River this morning and had a good time. Water is stained ( but fishable ) out to about 100 yrds from shore on both the American side and the Canadian side. The middle of the river is clear. We tried south of the Belle Isle birdge, Whiskey plant, Joe Louis and the Casino. I caught 4 walleyes ( including a 7lber ) at the Whiskey plant and were blanked at the other spots. Also seen a few other boats and fish caught at the whiskey plant. When we pulled in at St. Jeans we talked to guys in another boat who had 8 fish ( 1 from Sturgeon Hole & 7 from in front of Alter road area). Can't wait to get back out there next weekend!

Good luck & Tight lines,
Remington

Me and a friend boated 4 walleye's, all from the Sturgeon Hole. Two 15" er's, a 5lb'er and a 7lb'er. The color of choice was white jighead with white twister tail. Had a lot of short strikes. Water temp. was 37F first thing in the AM and warmed up to 40-41F, slightly warmer in the dirtier water. I let this 7lb. female back in the water to spawn.

Paul, I don't think you saw me at Lakeside or at a launch. We got our bait and license's at Wally's in Windsor, then launched at a small park (Mcfee Park?), in Canada, just south of the Ambassador bridge. We were the only ones to use this launch and now I know why. Retrieving was fun because the dock was very high and the grade at the bottom of the ramp was uneven. I do remember seeing 4 different boats catch a Muskie, I'm sure you were one of them. Hope you have better trip next time.

Welcome to the site & thanks for the report

We fished the sturgeon hole, belle isle bridge, & in front of DYC sunday caught one fish by the bridge. On saturday we fished the sturgeon hole and got two. All fish caught pulling wire, lost a few jigging the sturgeon hole. Did catch one musky about 15# on saturday. Maybe next time.

We landed 3 nice ones near the steel plant on jigs and minnows Sunday (I played net-boy actually). Our biggest came downstream from the plant in the general area we saw 4 other big ones caught between 7 and 9 pounds. This one was almost 8 1/2 thanks to a huge belly:

I sent the 7lb.'er back to let her spawn. However, I heard that one of the walleye associations downriver had a DNR biologist out to speak to the club. The DNR biologist said that they would actually like the fisherman to keep the big females. Apparently, there is a misconception about the bigger fish producing the best spawn. Yes, they have more eggs inside of them. However, the quality is poorer when compared to a fish in it's prime, which is a 3-6lb. walleye.
