Fishin with the Grands Yesterday out of SSP
Day started out awesome!!! Caught a bunch of sheep’s, catfish, and walleyes. Boys were loving reeling in fish. Normally I would not be happy with all the sheep’s and catfish but hey. They were lovin it. We made it up to 10 eyes bunches of sheep’s couple of catfish when the day went south fast!!!!!
Alex had just landed a nice little catfish, and once unhooked fell to the floor flopped up as they always do, but this time barbed into my left leg. Damn that hurt like hell…. But life is still Ok. But then flopped again and barbed my right leg, this time he drove it way way in and started flopping around still hooked in my leg
That hurt like a MOFO as I grabbed it and kept trying to pull it out and he just kept wriggling, unbeknown to me he had pierced a vein in the process. Once I got it off and out, deep dark blood was squirting out of my leg like a walleye being bleed out. Blood was going all over the floor, and the grands started to freak. Luckily my Bride aka Mary Hansen ( my angel)is a former Corpsman as many of u know and knew exactly what to do. ❤🥰😍She put a towel over the wound and said apply pressure RIGHT HERE!!! 😱🤭🤐 Then moved the Grands up front told them to STAY HERE!! Grandpa will be fine, came to the back and proceeded to assess. Pulled the towel. Squirt squirt squirt. Then she said We need a tourniquet!!! Say what?? Guess this is serious I thought. She then put simple tourniquet on the wound and provided field first aid. (Glad we had a pretty good first aid kit on the boat). Once the bleeding was slowed down we all brought in the lines threw the rods/reels in the front and hauled ass in from the Ohio line. Most times I don’t agree with hospital visits as u all know but I didn’t disagree this time. We made a trip to Urgent Care in Monroe and they got me all fixed up. 2 shots later wounds scrubbed and superglued back shut, and 10 days of antis. Could have turned out a lot worse if I didn’t have any help.
Thanks to the fella on the jet skis that helped us with the boat at the launch. Whoever u are I owe him a Big thanks!!!
It is amazing how quick a great day can turn south.
Just want to take a minute to tell my Bride once again u stepped up and took control. TYVM, I love you and and just reaffirms what u are made of❤🥰😍
So on a good note we caught a lot of fish and the Grands are wore out ❤👍😂😉
What a memory. Headed to the Tigers game today, still hurts will be walking a little slower but Life is still Grand with the Littles here
