A drivers licence is not enough to get you back and forth across the bridge. You must be able to show proof that you are a US citizen. A drivers licence is no proof of citizenship. You say you were born in the Bahamas. Are you a US citizen? If not you will need a passport. Take it from someone that used to think they could get across with only a drivers licence and was held up for several hour being explained otherwise by customs officals.
But for others you will need a passport or a state ID Card, drivers liscens, & a birth certificate. They do not always ask for the Birth certif. but if you don't have it and they ask. Be prepared for being at the border for a long period of time and be prepared to have everything gone thru, while they run a background check on verbal information and I.D. card you provided.
It won't be long before you will need a passport, changing business & tourisim for communities on the borders.
Never understood the passport thing. Is it really harder to falsefy?
