Any reason someone couldn't use this in place of Dual Magnum II? In the description it says, "Replaces the higher priced Dual II Mag and still retains the same concentration as the Old Dual II."

Seems to be the same active ingredient, just the generic version for half the price. Thoughts?

I posted that above and no one responded so I looked it up its metalachlor not S metalachlor does the same thing but S is a better product. Don't quote me but I believe I read it's less harmful to the labeled crops and requires less product.

My bad, must have missed it. And yeah, I saw that "S" in there and wasn't sure if it made any meaningful difference. I've never messed much with pre-emergents but may be doing some plantings this year where they would be beneficial.

If the species of weeds you’re trying to control is on the product label It should work. This is why I mentioned earlier there is a learning curve. You need to match the pre-emergent to the weeds you’re trying to control.
I think I'm just as concerned about what crops it won't harm, and one that particular website that tab doesn't have any info listed in it.

For what it's worth, I emailed Drexel to ask whether Me-Too-Lachlor was safe for sugar beets as it doesn't list sugar beets as compatible on the label. This was the response.

Good Afternoon Chris,

Unfortunately, I am unable to recommend our product as is not registered for use in sugar beets, however the active ingredient is the same. If you have any further questions let me know, I am happy to help.

Thanks!

So yeah, it's not "registered" for sugar beets but the active ingredient is the same. Take that as you will.

So far the weed control looks good with the dual magnum. I'm a little worried about the right side in the picture as this was a switchgrass strip that ended up all foxtail. Thinking I will spray glyphosate once or twice more before seeding. Also decided on doing just milo around the outside with the sugar beets in the middle, and have 1 strip of milo down the middle mixed with sugar beets

One thing I can’t seem to find a definitive answer to is whether or not metolachlor should be incorporated into the soil or ok sitting on top. And if ok on top, is it ok sprayed directly onto seed. Lots of times those tiny radish and brassica seeds are not buried much if at all.

This is actually quite a bit cheaper than Bawl II. Just got mine in from Keystone yesterday. Be testing it out on a few plots in a month or so
I'm confused so you bought Brawl Ii or found something cheaper than BrawlII...

As for the seed question.im sure my buddy will tell me.to research for him, so if I find an.answer I'll post and tag u... He may already know he's got a pretty good handle.on pre emergents

Follow the link in the post I replied to you on. Me-too-Lachlor is $99 a jug. Cheapest I’ve seen brawl II is $150

I believe I posted about this above... Me Too and Mr Too ii have regular Metachlor not S-Metachlor...

So i went full on dork mode one night end up on farming forums reading... It will work S is the newer form... What I read S had an additional i believe (isotope?) it is that allows it to be more effective with less product...

Now here's where your sugar beet and not being a labeled crops is that and don't quote me but I'm remembering them.saying it has a safetner in it that makes it easier on the planted crops...Like I said not 100% on that one but it's ringing a bell... Maybe that Is why me.too doesn't list sugar beets...

Now I read something recently, different night that there's something you can apply to the seed of certain crops to help.make.sure germination is high... Might have been in video i posted.

Since Nate Bowhunting made Milo the new super plot  there's alot of questions about these herbicides... But it's mostly guys guessing or having the same.questions. The farm forums cover some.of these new to plotting herbicides pretty well... Obviously there not always doing stuff similiar to what plotters are, but u can learn about the chemical...

I followed the link in the OP and its metachlor no S... But if I'm missing a link some where I can get S Metachlor for.99 a jug I'm all ears.

So what I bought is the metalochlar (not the s) and I knew that when I bought it. Talked to the guys at keystone before I ordered and they assured me it would be safe for Milo, turnips and radishes. Lots more, but those are the ones I was worried about.
Yes you can use less of the S, but even the regular is an application rate of approx 20 oz per acre. So one 2.5 gallon jug will treat 16 acres. That will last me a long time.
Lots of companies are treating Milo with concep which makes it a lot more safe with this herbicide than without it.

Foxtail is a warm season, it does not sprout till mid June.
I am trying to plant my Sorghum later this year so the Sorghum is not as tall when I spray.
Taller almost just blocks a lot of that spray.

The HD screen I usually plant does good with a June planting. I'm seeing I need to get the sugar beets down april-may and milo before June. I sprayed glyphosate this week but only had a few broadleaf weeds poking up, mostly clean dirt still. I see some good rain coming Sunday into next week. Should I broadcast the milo and beets this weekend or try to get one more spraying in after the rain first.....
