Does anyone know anything about the Bowtech Generation 3(2000) bow. I have an opportunity to purchase one from a friend and am wondering if this is a good bow. It shot very well, fast, quiet. I guess I just want a second opinion if I should buy this bow or a new bow for the same price range of about $300.00.

Thanks

Howdy, Christian-

Not an authority, and don't know squat about prices, but it sounds like you like the bow and shoot it well.

Is it fully equiped, i.e. rest, sight, leeches/limb savers, stabilizer, etc? If it's all set to go, it sounds like a fair price to me. all those extras would probably run $60 to $80, so you are paying $220 to $240 for the bow.

Not a bad deal for a 4 yr. old bow that you shoot well.....

my buddy just bought a new bowtech - patriot - loves the bow. quiet - low recoil, short axle to axle.

accessories - more than 60-80 in my opinion. I just bought a new bow, here's what I spent -
leeches, limbsavers - $24
rest (bodoodle gamedropper) - $70
cobra sights (can't remember the model name, but the one with the coiled fiber optics) - $60
quiver (martin) - $40
etc.

sure, you can get stuff cheaper, but it still adds up.. maybe you don't need all the accessories.

$300 for the used bowtech? nah.. i'd buy something new, if not for the technology, at least for the warranty.

I have owned several bowtechs and I love them. I do know however that the 3rd generation bowtech sells pretty cheap on ebay. I have never shot one personally, but I just looked on ebay and a 2003 Generation 3.2 just sold for $285, it did not have a rest/sight/etc. but I think $300 is a little high for that bow. But if you like it, I would not worry about buying it. I bought a used bowtech and hit one of the limbs on a bar while shooting one day causing a slight delam, even though I was not the original owner of the bow, they replaced both limbs for me and I had it back in a little over a week, no questions asked. Bowtech has a great warranty.

Bowtech makes great bows across the board. The Gen.3 was the goofy odd one out as it had the 3rd cam that...well I have no idea why anyone would want 3 cams. Speed wasn't greatly increased. Maybe it was a smooth draw thing, but having never shot or even seen one in person it'd be hard to tell.

As Buktruk said, the warranty is the best in the business as many Bowtech shooters are very brand loyal and that's how Bowtech wants to keep it.

If you shoot it and like it...get it.

everyone commenting on bowtech's - great bow, but you're sure that the warranty is transferable? I'd check it out before I did anything. My Martin has a "limited" lifetime warranty, but I have to have the original purchase receipt to use it.

If you do stupid stuff like throw it down a mountain and break the limbs off...you might want to be the original owner.

I'm sure there are some issues which won't be covered whether your the first or 8th owner, but all in all...Bowtech backs up their product and wants you to love the bow. Martin is much the same.

Not sure where StockBridge is at but I'd say if you want a new bow on the cheap then go find yourself a new one.

What you need to do is go into your local (have someone recommend) archery shop and ask them about their selection.

Here in Mt Morris I use Hick's Bait and tackle. I had to order it but I purchased a Martin Prowler model in 35 inch draw for 139 new. 87 bucks in accessories and I have my hunting weapon for 226. It shoots a 2513 ultralight easton 33 1/4 inch long at 283 FPS and it is quiet.

Your local archery shop will have the top line models for sale ranging from 300-800 but if you ask them who they sell for and do research you can find the cheaper same everything model in another line. My Prowler was the lesser version of Martin's Sceptor line.

Difference besides price? It has a non machined riser with no padding on the hand grip. Same limbs cams strings and speed specs.

Look around you'll fnd a much nicer bw for less I'm sure.
