In Tawas it's about 81/2' to 9'.

use an ice fishing clip on depth finder, and adust your bobber so it is only a few inches under the water. Remove the depth finder and you'll be in the happy zone. about 6 inches or so off the bottom.

Just far enough off the bottom so stop catching gobies.

In Tawas, be carefull not to let depth finder hit bottom to hard. It's all rocks down there and you will lose the finder in them if your not carefull.
