First off, I am not a turkey hunter. This afternoon, around 4:00, we had turkeys all over the place. There were at least 6 toms and 20 hens. The toms were strutting all over the place and what a noise all those turkeys were making. Is this normal this time of the year?

Also, twice a lot of the turkeys started flying but only went a short distance, maybe 50 yards at most. I thought it was interesting. Any thoughts?

Must of been some site. Tom's will fan out year round. I saw a few last week and 2 were fanned out. Man it does get me counting down the days. Once you get hooked chasing gobblers in the spring you'll never miss a season.

I sat in the same spot this morning. Gobbling started around 7:10, but that was only the beginning of the noise. A couple dozen turkeys can really make the woods come alive with sound. Also saw a spike horn; same one I've been seeing since late October.
