Biologist says pine martens doing OK

In 1986, Forest Service and Department of Natural Resources workers brought 36 pine martens, also called American martens, from the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve in Canada to the Ward Hills area of Lake County. The planting followed similar plantings in the Mackinac State Forest near Vanderbilt a year earlier.

“Today was a good day,” Bostick says. “My best guess is that in core areas, (martens are) doing OK, but there are a lot of areas outside this where they’re not doing as well.”

Recently I read an article by the Collins twins in which they stated that Martens are somewhat cyclic.
Some Martens seemed to scavenge and others hunted.
Those that hunted were tougher targets for trappers.
The Collins have trapped for 20 plus years in AK.
I've never seen a Marten in the wild.
Closest I have come was a Fisher in the UP that came to the bear bait one day.
