Over on D & DH site, I read about aHunters who ride their mountain bikes into the public land as a means to get away from the crowd. Sounds like a great idea. 3 miles on a bike would be way faster and easier.

Has anyone here tried it? What the heck do you do with the bike once you get to your spot? leave it under your tree? Use it as a ground blind?

any input would be great, since I was thinking about doing it when I hit up my next public land hunt.

Just chain it to a tree off the your path 100 yards. You'll need a way to get your gun or bow back there too, so have a plan before you go. Don't forget a light too.

I use a mountain bike and it works great. I usually just stuff the bike in some weeds and hope that nobody steals it. I have one of the primos bow slings that works pretty good, some guys have hooked up the ATV gun/bow mount on the handle bars. We also have a cart that hooks up to the bike, which has carried alot of deer out of the woods and also tresstands when hanging them.
