I love these tip-ups because I get to fight the fish on rod and reel. I do not use them with spinning reels though , I use them with small bait casting reels. Line pealing off OD a spinning reel can tangle or if you set the drag very loose you have to tighten it when you have a bite. The bait caster, you just set the spool tension high enough to hold the bait and low enough that the fish can pull off line. It is great when you get a flag and get to reel in a nice fish!

They are nice, I like them as well as use the automatic fisherman, slammer set up, but on days like this can't really fish em outside.
