Bass Pro running a trade in sale now. What is the best Jigging reel for the money? I use spinning rod/reel set-ups. I would like to get two more set-ups for the boat this spring.
Thank you all,
Tom

I am a big fan of the shimano Sahara's for $80. I checked out the new shimano nasci at cabelas, and for 100 it feels quite delightful. I bet the Nasci would be almost comparable to the ci4 but for 100 bucks less, that is how much I liked it. My buddy uses few pfleuger pres. and I would say they are pretty good bang for your bucks. I would also check out the pfleuger pres. limited editions as well, for the same price as the Sahara you might be getting a little more.

How long have you had the throttle for? Does it seem like it will last a while? I have looked at them but having not seen them in action I am a little cautious as far as durability goes.

Got them on jigging rods. Used last year on the D and on the Sag once this year. To new to judge on durability. How they're built with a one piece frame is kinda revolutionary and spins effortlessly. Time will tell how they hold up.

Oops, looks like they changed the name on the pres. Limited edition to the pres. Xt. I was just looking at the specs and how light weight these things are is ridiculous. With the 25 series at 6.6 oz. and 10 lb drag it would make for a nice jigging reel. That is another thing too, I personally like to balance my rods out according to where I hold them at. 5 years ago when I was buying all my jigging reels there weren't many at that price point that would pair with the legend. Now it seems that they all are getting lighter and each company is coming out with 2 new reels a year. I would think that new reels would mean new technology and your getting a better product for your buck but who knows until someone tries em.

Sorry about the rambling, but I'm just too excited for the jigging season and was looking for a new reel for myself as well. I would say if you plan on only using these reels for vertical jigging only, I wouldn't spend over 80 personally. How often are you using the reels. 2-5 times a year I wouldn't spend over 60. Now if your gonna cast and troll, and use it as your daily, Id be spending around 100. That is just the way I feel about price points, and what you get out of the reel from a specs and durability standpoint. Personally I like to put the most of my money into rods, too many to count now. I feel that a good "can" catch you more fish, where I have never not caught a fish because of my reel. In fact I had a reel break on a 15 or so lb sheapie and still got it in the boat, of course that was a 60 dollar reel that I had been using every day for 3 years and boated over a thousand fish with.

No problem wallyworld. I like the drag on the saharas and sturdy construction. They get used heavily and don't fall apart. I can use them for dropshotting bass too. Also to cast lighter jigs for walleye or bass (on a different rod). So not just a river jigging tool for what I do. Lotsa choices out there !

I have one president that I threw in the trash. In temps under 40 the anti reverse didn't work. Pflueger wouldn't acknowledge the problem. Oh well... I have a supreme that's been awesome. Honestly though, I'm not convinced the supreme is any better than the president for practical purposes. Don't think its worth the extra cost. I have presidents on ice rods and they have not displayed the same issue as the one I had for river jigging. Must have been unlucky with the other reel.

Abu Garcia , can hardly read what model but believe it says OME s10

Reel has been flawless and fish everything with it. Cast for coho, gills and even huge sucker. Be the first to admit I don't take care of my stuff like i should and reel is probably 4 yrs old or better. Think it was around 60$ and got a free sweater ! Not like walleye fight like a king or anything, sure any 30-60 reel will work. Buddy's i fish with most run 40$ Shimano and swear by em

A good drag is really not needed for Walleye however you might hook one of these

One of the most important thing is how the line falls of spool when bail is open. Get your jig down quickly. That sturgeon was caught with Sahara 1000.
