Alright i am ready to buy a longbow and was wondering what the best bow was that wont hurt the wallet. I am leaning towards a used Bear Montana at around $200.

You have the right idea - go used. You can probably find a nice custom for 2-300$ if you look for a little while. Look at classifieds on the Leatherwall and Trad Gang - lots of great used bows out there.

I don't know if Thunderhead still has it, but he had a really nice one, reasonable and if I had not just bought a bow I would have been after it.

Bear Montanas are amazing bows for the money. I had one for a few years and loved it, sold it to help pay for my Super Kodiak. Try the leatherwall. Also, for $300 you could easily score a used Martin Savannah. Never shot one but I've also never heard a bad word about them.

Spend a little more, or talk somebody into letting you borrow one to try. Don't overbow yourself and practice practice practice. Good luck
