Hey guys, I’m heading up to Bear Lake in Kalkaska this weekend. I’ve never fished the lake or any of the lakes in the area for that matter. I know it’s a trout lake with the usual panfish and bass. If anyone has any advice on the lake or the area in general it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

According to the other thread the best fishing is right out in front of the launch.

I've fished there a few times both in the summer and ice fishing. Mainly catch sunfish with some bonus rainbow trout. Rainbows are hard to find and travel at various depths (gets to over 60 feet deep) Id suggest using a fish finder to located fish and move until you find them. No sense in staying at an unproductive hole fore more than 30 minites.

When we fished it I thought we were catching browns in there? They could of been rainbows? We caught the trout on minnows just off the bottom.

Yup there are more Browns than rainbows, but both are there, ya just gotta be willing to work for them
