Made it out on Bear lk (kalkaska co) this morning,there was 3" of diamond-ice . It was safe, but use your head! My 1st limit of trout for `04...Caught them all on minnows in 50+ fow. Cant wait to go again.

I grew up not to far from there. Have you ever fished Starvation lake or Big Twin for browns?

The last time I fished Bear we did quite good also.

We have taken some real big browns out of starvation.

Nice catch, may have to take my boys up to the grandparents house this weekend for some fishing.

Thanks guys, 1st-ice can be an action packed time. As for Starvation? Never iced fished `er... heard there could be some nice sized trout in there.Lets go.Now Big Twin? I`ve caught some dandy bellied-browns in the 4-7 lb class. Seems I catch the larger ones on tip-ups/big blues and small trebble`s. Give this a try @ B.Twin some early morning fishing trip. Just dont forget two things, after setting tipups(2 per person) get far away from them.And give me a shout! I`m close to `em.

Learning something new every day. I try to go over everything in the hunting and fishing regs every year, and still miss stuff. Thanks for the info.
