I'm trying to get one of my friends into ice fishing. Where would my best bet for numbers of perch be? In this particular case, size does not matter    Is anyone doing any good in Hoyles or Great Lakes Marina's? Would palmer road be my best bet? How deep of water should I try? Teardrops or russian hooks? Thanks for any info you guys are willing to give up.

If you don't mind the size all that much your best bet for right now should be palmer rd.Plenty of little ones with a nice perch every now and then.Every decent perch that I've caught have hit on a brass kens hook with just the minnow head or perch eye.

once past pinconning, get onto old state rd and head north
depending on when you are going, just follow traffic
turn right towards the bay at any of these roads.
pine river/palmer/sagatoo

find 3-5 feet of water and get fishing.
ice is 4-5" thick and can support atv's.

minnows or waxworms or spikes are all catching fish
you just gotta do quite a bit of sorting of 3-5" dinks to get the
occassional 8-10" keeper.

good luck
