I'm new to this site and fishing. I was wondering if anyone has fished for bass in the Clinton river. one spot i was looking at was Yates Dam. I've found a few ponds also if anybody knows of any public ponds in the area that would be helpful. I live in Roseville and dont mind driving around 30-40 minutes to get to a spot

Not many bass around Yates. Check out the north branch of the Clinton River where it runs through Willcot Mills metro park. Plenty of room to wade and lots of smallmouth bass.

Or just shout fish from Metro or Harley loads of bass around them both, Smallies early and late. I have caught everything from perch to Muskie fishing those areas.

If you live in roseville, which I do also, you might want to try the spillway or lower Clinton. Shadyside park has lots of good shore spots. I launch my kayak there and spot bass jumping every now and again.

I'll have to try that once I save up for a pair of waders.

Thanks. I'll try that hopefully next week I looked at it on Google and looks like a really nice spot.

Tons in the Yates stretch right now. Mainly all Small Mouth. Must have caught 25 of those SOB's yesterday. Not all that big but fun. Got 2 LM also

Later on in the summer, the north branch smallies will absolutely crush a strike king, mini buzz bait...swing them through riffle tailouts, and bubble lines...

Nothin like you catch in the lake... But they fight like crazy. Id say a decent average size for the North Branch is 12" ish. But ive seen bigger. Havent fished it in a couple years, but ive slayed in the past. Last couple times out there was fly fishing with poppers, and streamers, and did well

Ive never targeted smallies in the yates area...ive caught a handful over the years, but not many. If you are going for smallies, the North Branch is where Id go.
