I want to take my son out this weekend and I have always used minnows and wigglers with marginal luck. Any recommendations on other baits we should try?

I've had good luck using minnow heads on jigs or red beads - either hard or soft beads

Keep your fingers crossed the bite is like it has been the past few days and it won't matter much what you drop down the hole. Fish had the feedbags on and hit anything tied on...waxies, spikes, beaded spoons, Jensen eggs, minnows, minnow heads, minnow tails, plastics, raps, even a few on bare hooks!!! Have to love first ice!!

A lot of sorting through the smerch, but a lot of good ones to be had too and non-stop action...
