FYI, CSM is the chop strand that you see on the inside glass work of a production fiberglass boat.

It is very common for production boat builders to simply apply chop strand over the internal wood or foam stringers and transom areas. A much stronger layup is multiple layers of biaxial (1708) weave, 1.5oz, then chop.

To go into a bit more detail, CSM is 3-4" glass fibers. Its bascially a roll of fiberglass that is "chopped up" as it's fed thru a gun and shot onto the area to be covered. In the right hands CSM is not a bad deal, but if used incorrectly it can be disaterous. The person running the gun needs to be experieneced, so the glass is laid evenly. This is where the cheaper boat company may not pay top dollar for an operator of the CSM gun and get poor, uneven layup. Next, if the glass is not set up correctly and water is allowed to penetrate, the CSM works like capilary action, using the long, thin fibers to let water travel longer distances.

You better buy it its the first boat he has anything good to say about it must be his!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You better lay off of SB!

Not from a mod's standpoint, but he knows his boats! I've been shopping for 2 years and when I find a boat at the right price point I will inquire.

I went from 30-50k within a year looking for the "perfect" rig. Most of them saltwater rigs.

Shopping for a CC with a 4stroke 250-300 or twins. Yamaha (no welfare motors), must have rear seating without a baitwell in the middle and a deck capable of a cushion(s) for laying out. Haven't found it yet!

Contenders are nice, but no deck, or rear seating...lol

Love my Scout and ready to upgrade!

Sea Hunt, nice, but relatively new to the market and the new ones just too much for any residual...

Some of the Pursuit CC's are nice, but all powered with twin Saltwater Series and to repower them 20-30k

I just can't find a boat

I appreciate Salmon Bum's input, mostly because most of our membership is without a clue when it comes buying!

A great friend of mine, also just found one in St. Clair Shores for the same price. His is also in great shape. Mine is at Traxstech having full package installed, along with Humminbird Onix, and Autopilot.
There are some really good buys on the 27's right now.

Eyefull, I think you sold your last boat to Bob?

Don't remember his name. He works for Valley Electric? The whole deal went down so fast, my head is still spinning LOL!

Was your old boat for sale in Linwood, in a campground?

Bum has a lot of knowledge

I can personally say that over the years here on MS, Bum has helped me boat MORE fish due to his forum advice. I have never met him, but knowledgable guys like him who take their time to help, offer advice, and point out mistakes are invaluable to me, just sayin'.:)

All.... Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it.

I wonder what advise Bum could give on buying a saltwater boat with a tuna tower and outriggers like the Pursuit for sale on Craigslist?
The advice I would give, from what I know about it, that is a very clean boat that has all documentation to anything done to it since new. The owner is super anal and you will be hard press to find a more experienced boat owner that takes care of his vessel. Boat is about as turn key as you can get. As always, I recommend a survey with any boat purchase of this value.

Word is the owner is looking to move up to a 38' Pursuit.

Both are nice rigs best of luck.

Salmon Bum why are you so quick to knock everyone and thing???? You knock Baha boats you knock people who hit breakwall Dont be so quick to judge remember karma It will sure come around
Seriously. ..... so you think hitting a breakable is ok? Wow....... I think hitting a breakwall is karma.

And I am not knocking baha, but only stating fact as to what I have seen by their build quality. You are grown man and do not have to listen to a word a say, you are entitled to buy a whole fleet of Bahas if you are so inclined to do so.

Might want to ask the OP how his survey on the baha turned out......

Yeah, don't be so quick to judge! Shame on you salmon bum, For all you know someone could come along in a boat on plane in the fog and run over slow troller. How dare you try to blame someone for running on plane in the fog. Its as if you think people could SLOW DOWN in the fog so they don't kill people? TSK TSK.

And then you go out and tell guys that its very important to get surveys before purchasing a boat. I just don't know where you come up with this stuff!!!!!!
