I was out Friday, water temperature at surface was 78. There has been a thermocline since mid July at 18 ft. Fish Hawk 4 shows temp at 19 ft 76, at 26 ft it was 66 at the cannon ball. I was fishing for pike ,so don't know what temperature is deeper.
From about a mile south of the 1st set of nets to north of AuGres River showed lots of fish on the Hummingbird in 26 fow a few ft above the thermocline to bottom
Caught 3 walleye 0 pike.

Pretty much the norm for this time of year to slow, there is still good fishing to be had tho,we usually do pretty good still ourselves just not the fast limits and not always limiting out, wife and i fished yesterday 8 to 1:30 and ended up with 14 ,12 to 14 fow.pulling meat antifreeze was the hot color, smiley blades did really good.
Wow that's a pretty decent catch for sure. Up here out of Au Gres?

When we were out perch fishing and riding around Friday we seen a lot of fish in the same column as you did. From 20 to 25 or so there were plenty of scattered V's on the screen. 42 feet of water to 38 depth.

There are plenty of walleye here. Like Walleye50 said you have to work harder this time of year for them.

My son an I went out yesterday in the afternoon off Agres. We went to the 40fow on a heading of 120 degrees, fished till 7pm ended up with 6eyes and 3 throw backs. Had to work for them ,best was meat bottom bounces black blades and white blades. Surface temp was 80 ! Bath water, it was hot out there, had to dunk our heads in the water, ha. Ha. Had a good time though, now changing over to salmon, head to Manistee next we week.

Good luck in Manistee Tom. Hope you get a boat load.

I made it out for a few hours at daylight. Water temperature was down to 74 from 78 last week. Conditions were pretty sporty, wave height ranged from 2-4, occasionally a 5. Bite was a mixed bag running harnesses, 2 walleyes, 2 smallmouths, 3 sheep, 1 cat. A lot of bait stealing going on, and I caught one perch. Marked a lot, perhaps a number of them were perch.

Some sad news. Norm Wright has passed. Norm and his wife Joanne owned and operated Wright's Sports Store in Augres for many years. I've spent countless hours hanging out in his wonderful, cluttered store since I was small.
Norm was a genuine good person with a big heart. He helped a lot of young hunters and fisherman get what they needed to get outdoors. There's probably a million dollars worth of hand written IOUs in that box he kept even though he knew most would never make good on them.
