I'm thinking of trying:

1- Spring salmon/trout in the Saint clair river--preferably in the big boat with heat.

2- Sturgeon fishing in the river. Sounded like they had a blast last year.

3- Attempting to learn how to use boards for Musky. A nice way to pass time traveling from the Walleye grounds to dock.

4- A few all night walleye trips on the lake (not the river) I would think If I could find them and trolled something? They might be aggressive.

Well that's about it. I'll just have to fit it in between Spring handlining--Smelt dipping-- lake walleye trolling- and lake perch fishing.

Inland lake walleye fishing. As some know I downsized my boat, with the intent of taking on the inland lakes in the N.W. part of the state. Well after 20 years of the salmon/trout/Detroit river/Lake Erie circuit, i'm like a fish out of the water fishing for the eyes on inland lakes. I flailed around a few times this past year, but mostly felt like I was wasting my time not doing something right. I know the basics, but I have some serious finetuning to do this year. A 400 buck trip to Cabela's is in the near future.

I'm thinking of trying:

To get out on the lakes more!

Seriously though, handlining sounds like fun. I may give that a try. It seems like every year the handliners are the first ones to start catching walleye.

I'd be happy to haveyou along on the big lake for some salmon, if you can fit it in. Sounds like your plate is full. Whipping on the SCR can be very productive during May-June. Used to do well on the salmon in the river during spring too. If you can stand the cold, the 16' would get the job done too.

Ficious I would love to give it a spin on the big lake. I've tried wipping . Its ok . My true love is handlining. The 16 foot would be fine to try the river. I was just thinking it would be more of an adventure taking the big boat all the way up.

Slick fishing, Smelt Drinking:) I'm alwys open for that. It was a blast last spring. This spring we might evin get some smelt?

I grew up handlining the Detroit River with my father and grandfather and would really like to get better at verticle jigging, I'm pretty much self taught at open water trolling the big lake and really enjoy fishing with the big boards, would like to get better at using the inline boards and bottom bouncers. I think lastly I would like to fish more inland lakes in our great state, and while doing so find a nice place to retire to some day.....lol I'm 44 yrs old so that gives me approx. 4 1/2 yrs to find such place.....:D

That is all contingent on 1shot finishing college in that period of time....

Let's see:

1- Finish rigging my new boat and seeing what will work best once out on the water
2- Spring browns in Lake Huron
3- Some night trips out for sturgeon fishing on the SCR (OUTING!!! :D )
4- Putting in a lot more time on the water for eyes and ski

#1 Find Perch honey holes closer to home. Simcoe has become to far for an 8 to 8.5 inch average.
#2 St. Marys River/Detour in August. How about 50 Pinks a day?

After that, where's the time? Work SUCKS!!!!!!!!

I was hoping to have some downriggers on the boat this year but that does not look like it will happen. I have not fished the Detroit river w/ the new rig yet and hope to do that. I also need to spend more time on the SCR and try to figure out the fish in there since it is so close to home. I am just looking forward to getting on the water, I did not get to use the boat nearly enough last year!!
