Howdy, Lunker-

never fished it but was there a couple of times.......

I think if you do a search on Escondido, CA ( it is actually just outside of there) you may be able to get more info.

BTW, 'Lake Dixon' is kind of a misnomer. As with most Southern California 'lakes', it is actually a resevoir....

But anyways the avocado's were the size of our pinnapples and the peaches were the size of our grapefruit. There mexican food is so good I ate it for breakfast alot.

Fishin those huge bass aint as easy as it sounds, most of those lakes were only open to the public on the weekends, and some only during certain months of the year, and they were usually a madhouse. we would pull up to the gate at 10 or 11 pm the night before and sleep in the back of the truck. when you woke up at 0430 there would be a line of boats and vehicles as far as you could see. (not all of the lakes but most of the popular ones).then you would pay from 2 -2.50 apiece for golden shiners. plus 5.50 to fish the lake and usually 25.00 to rent a boat for the day. My favorit was lake Otay because of the sheer size and the shorline was nothig but toolies. just flip a shiner in the weeds and let em go.
We fished Dixon ALOT! it is very small and deep, its funny cuz when you walk down the dock to get to your rental you could see huge bass layin there in 6-8 fow (crystal clear). course you couldn't fish near the docks!!!!
But when ya got tired of the beach or fishin the ocean it was a good time. always reminded me of bein back here in good ol michigan. I loved livin in Cali, but its just too dang spensive!
