Any have any tips on how to put a downrigger on a 14ft Aluminum boat?

Think it would be fun to put a downrigger on my dads boat, its just a 14ft starcraft sealite with a 15hp on it.

Cannon use to make a base that had a clamp on the bottom. It would fit perfect on a boat your talking about. I think I have one if you want it.

You may want to think about tieing both sides together somehow, so the force of the weights don't pull too much on one side. Perhaps using two of those clamps shown above and connecting both sides of that clamp with a meaty 1.5-2"X8-10" chunk of oak running across the beam of the boat. The oak plank would be placed on the top of the clamps and then mount the riggers through the oak plank to the mounting plates. This would apply equal force to both sides of the boat.
