Wife is bugging me to finish (start) building her sewing cabinets. I am going to piece everything together with particle board, then put laminate on the particle board...basically do a professional job, and keep everything custom built so it suits her needs well. I also want to incorporate a couple other things that storebought cabinets simply can't provide.

Home Depot sells laminate for $40/sheet. It's all countertop grade though. I know there is a vertical grade laminate that's thinner. Does this mean it's cheaper? I'd really like to keep the project on the cheap if that's even possible, any suggestions on suppliers in SE michigan that sell cheap vertical grade laminate in wood grain or just plain white?

Melamine board. You can get in different colors and even wood grain I think. The core is particle board. When I was in business we used it all the time for cabinets.
